Six Degrees of Harness Racing

05/07/08

Hoof Beats readers, here’s another chance to test your skill and knowledge of triva, and how horses, drivers and trainers are all connected through “six degrees of separation.”

Look closely at these photos, numbered one (1) through six (6), and try to choose the connection from the first to the second, from the second to the third, from the third to the fourth, from the fourth to the fifth and from the fifth to the six. Got it?

For example, you might first see a generic photo of Pompano Park (photo 1), and the next photo is of driver Wally Hennessey (photo 2) who regularly drives at Pompano (there’s the connection between photos 1 and 2). Photo 3 might be of Moni Maker scoring her under-saddle record at the Red Mile (there’s the connection between photos 2 and 3, Hennessey drove Moni Maker). Photo 4 may then be of Passionate Glide winning the Kentucky Filly Futurity (the connection here is that Moni Maker’s record was at Lexington, where the Kentucky Filly Futurity is contested). Photo 5 then might be of Ron Pierce, who drove Passionate Glide in the Futurity (Photos 4 and 5 connection), and Photo 6 might be of Donato Hanover (Pierce is his regular pilot). Hence, the connection between photos 5 and 6.

Deadline for entries is Wednesday, May 14th at Noon. The winner will be notified by e-mail and will receive a free subscription to Hoof Beats Direct. Good Luck to everyone!
